Prof. ANTONELLA PENNA, Full Professor – Orcid ID: 0000-0002-1880-9401

Actual Position: Full Professor at Biological Sciences School. Teaching in Ecology. Researcher in Molecular Ecology and Ecology at Department of Biomolecular Sciences. She authored 110 scientific papers  in ISI Journals. She is reviewer of National Projects for ECOHAB at NOAA Institution (USA). She was already member of Directive Committee of SIBM. She participated in several national (especially in the PRIN framework) and European  research projects FP6-FP7 (ENPI CBCMEDM3-HABs-2013, Adriatic IPABALMAS-2013; EU Interreg Croatia WATERCARE; EU ABIOMMED). Her research activities include the molecular Technologies for monitoring HABs, marine ecosystem quality control and assessment through data analysis and ecological model applications.  Regione Marche “Monitoring of Coastal Water Quality of North Marche”. Dr. SILVIA CASABIANCA, Ph. D, Postdoctoral Researcher

She received her Ph. D. degree in Environmental Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Urbino, in 2010 with a thesis on “Use of high polymorphic marker analysis in Alexandrium minutum populations of the Mediterranean Sea”. Currently, teaching Marine Biology, she has RTD B position in Ecology at Biomolecular Science Department of University of Urbino working on the quali- and quantitative genetic characterization of different toxic dinoflagellate species from different geographical areas with particular interest to the Mediterranean basin. Skills: microalgal isolation and cultures; analysis of growth rate of marine microalgal species using different quantitative methods; qualitative and quantitative qrt-PCR; cloning, sequence alignment analysis, data analysis, phylogenetic analysis using several software platforms; statistical software application for genetic population analysis. Dr. NADIA MARINCHEL, Ph.D 

Bachelor degree in “Animal production and wildlife control” (Agricultural Sciences), University of Bologna in 2016. Master degree in “Environmental Management of Mountain Areas” (Science and Technology),  University of Bolzano, 2019. Master thesis entitled “Peatlands and eDNA metabarcoding: a new way to survey past communities” carried out at Fondazione Edmund Mach (San Michele all’Adige, Tn).  Scholarship holder at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” within the “Watercare INTERREG Italy-Croatia Project”. Actually, Ph.D student in “Formal Models, Data Analysis and Scientific Computing” at the REMEST School  at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo”. The project is co-managed with Fondazione Edmund Mach and entitled “Ecological structure of plankton resting stage assemblages through high throughput sequencing metabarcoding approach across the Mediterranean Sea”. Dr. SAMUELA CAPELLACCI, Technician

Actual position: since 2003. Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Urbino. Fellowships from 2000 to 2002 at the Centre for Environmental Biology, University of Urbino. Skills on: research applied to marine biology and coastal water monitoring campaigns to study the occurrence and dynamics of eutrophic and mucilaginous phenomena occurring along the NW Adriatic coast. Analyses of chemical, physical and biological properties of Adriatic mucilaginous aggregates. Use of analytical methods by HPLC-Refractometry and Mass Liquid Spectrometry. Morphological characterization of phytoplankton communities. Metabolism of silicon in marine diatoms by in situ studies. Microalgal isolation and cultures; analysis of growth rate of marine microalgal species using different quantitative methods; optical and epi-fluorescence microscopy techniques; DNA extraction and purification by classical methods or kits; qualitative and qPCR, and nucleotide sequence analysis. Actual position: since 2008. Bachelor Degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Urbino. Fellowships from 2000 to 2007 at the Centre of Environmental Biology, University of Urbino. Skills on: research applied to coastal dynamic in the NW Adriatic Sea with monitoring plans carried out from 1986. Analyses of chemical, physical and biological of mucilage aggregates in the NW Adriatic Sea. Use of analytical methods by HPLC-Refractometry and Mass Liquid Spectrometry for the oligosaccharide composition of the mucilage masses. Pubblications: 10 papers in ISI journals.
